Overview

Engine models allow you to specify the group of parts needed when performing the different service types (A Service, B Service, etc) for a particular engine. In some cases, you can define a generic engine model that has a common group of parts covering the requirements for many of your assets, and in other cases you may need to define a very specific engine model and the specific groups of parts needed for the one asset.

When scheduling a service for an asset, the parts included in the workshop task will be based on the following:

  1. The asset that the service is being scheduled for needs to have the engine model assigned. In the following example, the asset has engine model ‘ISL’

  2. The engine model needs to have a parts group specified for the service being scheduled. If scheduling the ‘B Service’ for asset ‘02’, then the parts group that will be used is ‘Service B Cummins ISL’.

  3. The parts and their quantities that have been defined on the parts group will then be included in the service task when scheduled.

Prerequisites

Creating a new engine has the following prerequisites

Creating a new engine

  1. Navigate to WorkshopConfiguration → Engines.

  2. Click in the header to create a new engine.

  3. Enter a unique model name.

  4. Click + Add Parts Group to add a new line, and select the service type with its accompanying parts groups.

    Untitled

  5. Once you have added all required service types & parts groups, click Submit.

Note: All fields marked with an asterisk ( * ) are mandatory

💡 Recommendation: If you have engines that use the same parts for some of their services but not all, create a common parts group for those that are the same and specific parts groups when they differ. In the following example, engine models ‘ISL’ and ‘ISLe5’ use the same parts when doing a ‘B Service’, but the ‘ISLe5’ requires some extra parts when performing the ‘C Service’ and ‘D Service’.
