When you change a booking in Central-Ops, the system automatically determines how those changes should affect the associated jobs. This ensures that operations staff are kept informed when changes impact their scheduling, while also minimising unnecessary disruption for minor updates.
The system distinguishes between minor changes that flow through automatically, and major changes that require jobs to be regenerated.
Minor changes are updates that don't affect driver or vehicle allocations. These changes flow through to jobs automatically without any disruption to scheduling.
Minor changes include:
Major changes affect driver and vehicle allocations, which means the existing allocations may no longer be suitable. When you make a major change, the system deletes and regenerates the associated jobs.
Major changes include:
When jobs are regenerated, Operations receives an email with the details of the deleted jobs, including the driver and vehicle that were allocated. This allows operations staff to quickly reassign resources to the new jobs if needed.
If a major change is made to a booking while a job is already in progress, the system behaves differently. Rather than deleting the job (which could disrupt an active driver), the system flags the jobs as Needs Verification.
This gives you the opportunity to review the changes and decide whether to update the job details manually. The Needs Verification status appears as a red triangle next to the job number in the Jobs Page and Charter Diary.
Note: A job is considered In Progress when tablet progress has been recorded against it and it is not yet completed.
For full details on handling jobs that need verification, see **Needs Verification.**
For complex bookings like a cruise ship shuttle service where multiple jobs have been split to allow for drivers taking breaks while other drivers take over, making a major change can cause all associated jobs to be regenerated. This may require significant rework to split the jobs again and reallocate drivers and vehicles.
If you only need to make a simple change like adjusting a start time, consider updating the jobs directly rather than changing the booking. Since jobs can be edited independently, you can make the necessary adjustments without triggering a full regeneration.
If you need the booking record to match the actual job details, you can update the booking after the jobs have been completed. Completed jobs are not affected by booking changes.
