Swap Vehicle in job from Tablet

Overview

If a driver finds a problem with their allocated vehicle during a predeparture check & needs to change to a different vehicle, someone in operations would normally change the vehicle in the job before the driver can start, otherwise the job would not be shown in the tablet of the new vehicle. The ‘Swap Vehicle in job from tablet’ feature allows the driver to change the vehicle in the job themselves when there are no operations staff available to make the change.

The real world scenario of this feature being used could look something like this:

  1. Driver clocks on early on a Sunday morning & goes to his allocated vehicle, in this case, Bus_2 is the allocated vehicle in the job
  2. The driver finds a problem with Bus_2 & calls an Operations staff member who isn’t in the depot or in front of a computer at the time
  3. Operations advise the driver to take Bus_1 & swap the vehicle themselves in the tablet
  4. The driver gets out of Bus_2 & gets into Bus_1, signs into the tablet, performs the vehicle swap & starts the job in Bus_1

Note: The driver may or may not have started the job in the tablet of Bus_2 before finding the problem so we cater for both scenarios.

Note: The driver may or may not have driven Bus_2 before finding the problem so again, we cater for both scenarios.

Note: The vehicle change could create a vehicle conflict that the driver or Operations person may not have known about, so we present that information to the driver who can inform operations & seek approval.

Viewing jobs on the Driver’s Tablet

When a driver signs into a tablet ‘My jobs in this vehicle’ is the default option selected which shows the logged in driver their own jobs for this vehicle.
