Scheduled breaks can be added to any driving job to allow fatigue calculations to take into consideration those planned breaks when determining if a driver will have sufficient rest to remain compliant with fatigue regulations.
The most common use case for this is when a job spans multiple days and drivers are scheduled to have night rests or 24 hour periods of rest while away. Without those scheduled breaks being entered, the fatigue calculation won’t be able to determine if there are sufficient rest breaks to comply with fatigue rules and will instead flag the job as a Driver Managed Fatigue job.
Scheduled breaks should be planned into the itinerary for the job and entered accordingly. The actual breaks the driver records in the tablet will be used on completion of the job & may differ from the scheduled breaks due to circumstances that arise while doing the job. At the completion of the job, the fatigue calculations will make use of the actual breaks that are imported from the tablet and no longer refer to the scheduled breaks. If the actual breaks imported into the job from the tablet are not sufficient, a fatigue breach event will be created.
