Overview
Route directions give drivers on-screen guidance for route service jobs on the fleet tablet. Once a route and departure time are selected, the tablet shows:
- A map with the route line to drive, every stop that is a timing point on the trip, and your bus's live position
- A stop list showing each upcoming stop and its scheduled time
- Driving notes between stops, where operations have added them
Where no note has been added for a section of the route, the panel shows No directions — follow the line — drive the route line drawn on the map.
Availability
Driving Directions is switched on for your organisation by the Triple D Software support team. When it is enabled, the directions link will appear within the job on the Driver’s Tablet . If you don't see it and you'd like to use the feature, please contact the Triple D support team to have it enabled.

Opening directions
- From the jobs list, open your job.
- Tap Directions.
❕Note: The Directions button is available while the job is in progress. It is not shown once the job is finished or cancelled.
Selecting the route and departure time
The first time you open directions for a job, the Find a route screen is shown.
- Select a tab:
- Today — routes running today.
- All routes — every route, including other operators' routes grouped under their operator name.
- Enter a route number or name in Filter routes to narrow the list.
- Tap the route.
- Under the destination you are driving towards, tap the departure time from the first stop.
❕Note: A route is listed once for each direction of travel, headed by its destination. Make sure you select the departure under the destination that matches your trip.
❕Note: On the All routes tab, departure times may be grouped under a service heading (for example a school term) — select the departure under the current service.
💡 Recommendation: Your selection is remembered for this job for the rest of the day. If you leave directions and come back, the same trip loads without re-selecting.
To select a different route before choosing a departure, tap ← Routes to go back to the route list.

Following the route
- The map shows the route line to drive, with a marker at each stop and your bus's live position.
- The panel on the right lists the next stop first, then the rest of the trip, with scheduled times.
- Where operations have added driving notes for a section (for example "Left onto Station St, use the bus gate"), the note is shown between the two stops it applies to. Where there is no note, follow the line on the map.
- As you arrive at each stop, the tablet uses GPS to advance to the following stop automatically — no input needed.
Skipping forwards or backwards through stops
If GPS has not registered arriving at a stop (for example a missed stop zone, GPS dropout, or starting mid-route), you can move the trip position yourself. There are two ways.
Step one stop at a time
- On the map, find the current stop banner.
- Tap › to move forward one stop, or ‹ to move back one stop.
Jump to a specific stop
- In the stop list, tap the stop you want to continue from.
- When asked Start from [stop name]?, tap Start here. Tap Cancel to leave things as they are.
This is the quickest way to line the trip up when taking over a route partway through.
❕Note: After you move the trip position manually, it holds at that stop until the bus drives away from it — GPS then takes over again and advances the trip automatically from there.
Changing route or leaving directions
- Tap Change Route to clear the current selection and return to the Find a route screen — for example if the wrong departure was selected.
- Tap Back to job to return to the job page. Your route selection is kept, so reopening Directions returns you to the same trip.
