Overview
Customer Tiers offer a flexible way to automatically apply markups or discounts to quotes based on the customer's profile or individually within the quote options.
Customer Tiers work in conjunction with the selected cost option and are applied after the base price has been calculated.
What are Customer Tiers?
Customer Tiers allow you to create a reusable pricing rule that applies a percentage-based adjustment to a quote's calculated price.
They can be used to::
- Apply a markup to cost-based quotes
- Offer a discount to preferred customers
- Align pricing to service levels (e.g. Gold Tier, Silver Tier)
Customer Tiers do not define how pricing is calculated, but rather adjust the result produced by the selected cost option.

When Should I Use Customer Tiers?
Customer Tiers are best used when you want to apply a consistent percentage adjustment across multiple quotes for a customer.
Typical use cases include:
- Preferred customers who receive a standard discount
- Contracted customers who require a fixed markup
- Pricing differentiation based on customer relationship or volume
Customer Tiers are not a replacement for Pricing Schemes or contract pricing.
They are applied on top of supported cost options.
Cost Options and Customer Tiers
Quotes in Central-Ops use one of the following cost options:
- Kilometers
- Set Rate (Pricing Schemes)
- Contract
Customer Tiers apply differently depending on the selected cost option.
Supported Cost Options
Customer Tiers apply to:
- Kilometers
- Set Rate (Pricing Schemes)
For these cost options:
- The base price is calculated using the selected method
- The Customer Tier markup or discount is applied to that result
Unsupported Cost Option
Customer Tiers do not apply to:
When using Contract pricing, the price is always defined by the contract and is not adjusted by Customer Tiers.

Creating and Managing Customer Tiers
To manage your customer tiers, navigate to: Sales → Configuration → Customer Tiers
This will display a list of all defined customer tiers in your system.
To add a new Customer Tier
- Click the + at the top of the page
- Enter a Tier Name (e.g. Gold Tier, Tier 1, Preferred Client)
- Choose the Adjustment Type:
- Markup - adds a percentage to the base price
- Discount - reduces the base price by a percentage
- Enter the Percent (e.g. 10%, 15%)
Assigning a Tier to a Customer
- Open the customer record and choose from the available tiers in the Customer Tier field.
- When creating a quote for that customer, their default tier will be automatically applied.
- The tier can still be changed manually within the quote if needed.
Default Tier vs Quote Override
- A Customer Tier assigned to a customer is applied by default
- The tier can be overridden per quote option
- Overriding the tier:
- Affects only that quote option
- Does not change the customer’s default tier
Applying a Customer Tier within a Quote
Note: Customer Tiers are only available when the cost option is Kilometers or Set Rate.
They are not available for Contract pricing.
When creating or editing a quote option:
- Select Add Option (or edit an existing option)
- Choose a supported cost option (Kilometers or Set Rate)
- Select a Customer Tier from the available list
- Review the updated pricing shown against each vehicle
The adjusted price will be displayed alongside the selected tier.
Customer Tiers and Pricing Schemes
Customer Tiers and Pricing Schemes work together:
- Pricing Schemes define how the base price is calculated
- Customer Tiers apply a markup or discount to that calculated price
Example:
- Cost Option: Set Rate (Pricing Scheme)
- Pricing Scheme: Fixed Rate – Charter
- Customer Tier: Preferred Client (10% discount)
Result:
The fixed rate is calculated first, then the discount is applied.
Changing Customer Tiers After Quotes Exist
If a Customer Tier is changed:
- New quotes will use the updated tier
- Existing quotes retain the tier applied at the time the quote was created
- Booked work is not automatically repriced
To apply a new tier to an existing quote:
- Open the quote
- Edit the relevant option
- Select a different Customer Tier
- Review and save the updated pricing
