Component Types define the master list of components that can be tracked across all assets. For each component type, you set the default service interval — how often the component should be serviced or replaced — which is then applied to each asset's individual preventative maintenance plan.
Three interval types are available when defining a component type:
| Interval Type | How it works |
|---|---|
| Kms | Service is due after a set number of kilometres. |
| Days | Service is due after a set number of days. |
| Days or Kms | Service is due when either the day threshold or the km threshold is reached — whichever comes first. Use this for components where either time or distance could cause wear. |
The Days or Kms interval is particularly useful for vehicles that may sit idle for extended periods — for example, a spare bus that doesn't accumulate kilometres quickly but still needs time-based service attention.
